Unemployment up across region from May to June

Unemployment was up from May to June in all three southern Pennyrile counties, but it was still less than the number from a year ago.

Christian County’s jobless rate in June was 6.3 percent, up from 5.3 percent in May. That represented 1,618 people who were seeking work, but who were unable to find it. The June 2018 rate was 6.4 percent.

Todd County had the Pennyrile region’s lowest unemployment rate at 4.3 percent, up from 3.5 percent in May and down from 4.5 percent a year ago.

In Trigg County, the jobless rate was an even 5 percent, up from 4.1 percent in May and down from 5.4 percent in June of 2018.

Muhlenberg County had the Pennyrile region’s highest jobless rate at 7.5 percent.
