Elsewhere in the National League: The St. Louis Cardinals offense came alive as they crushed the Pirates 17-4 at Busch Stadium. Game two of the series is tonight.

Anthony Rizzo smacked a two-run homer to lead the Chicago Cubs past the Miami Marlins 4-1 at Wrigley Field. The Cubs welcome the Milwaukee Brewers for the weekend beginning today.

The Atlanta Braves fell 3-2 in 10 innings to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Game two of the series is tonight in Phoenix.
