Wrong way driver causes fatal crash on I-65 in Warren County

A wrong-way driver caused a fatal crash Sunday afternoon on Interstate 65 in Warren County.

Investigation by Kentucky State Police determined 30-year old Cassandra Garrison of St. Louis was southbound near the 24 mile-marker when she slowed down to an extremely low rate of speed and a passenger exited.

Garrison then changed direction and began to travel north in the southbound lanes. She struck a southbound Ford Mustang driven by 41-year old Amy Eakles of Alvaton in a head-on manner.

Eakles died from her injuries at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Garrison was transferred to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville for non-life-threatening injuries.
