Pedestrian killed after being hit by train in Madisonville

A pedestrian walking on railroad tracks in Madisonville Friday evening was killed after he was struck by a train.

It happened about 6 p.m. and Madisonville Police say 35-year old Michael O’rear of Wesco Drive, Madisonville was walking west on the tracks between Hollow Drive and Clearview Drive when he was struck from behind by a westbound train.

O’rear was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hopkins County coroner, according to a news release.
