Woman served with child abandonment warrant

A warrant for felony abandonment of a minor was served Tuesday against a local woman.

It alleges that at about 5 p.m. on August 18th, 49-year old Vanessa Blaine of Hopkinsville ran out of gas at South Virginia Street and Country Club Lane and that she fled the scene on foot when someone else stopped to assist her—leaving behind her two grandchildren.

The bystander stayed on scene to be sure the children were safe.

She was served with the warrant at the jail and released on a $5,000 bond.
