Auditor hopes to find county savings on phone bills

Christian Fiscal Court recently contracted with Telecom Audit Group in a no-risk agreement both sides hope will pay off with savings on the county’s phone bills.

Bruce Brooks says the company already serves 40 Kentucky counties and they look at all information available on all of the county’s phone lines at no cost up front.

In addition to seeing if all of the lines are still serving a purpose, they also examine if the phone company is charging the correct rate.

Refunds are available in many cases when the phone company has been charging the incorrect amount of the period of years.

Telecom makes its money by getting half of any savings they find over the period of 24 months following the audit.

The company also does auditing on electric, water and natural gas bills, but Christian Fiscal Court only signed up for the phone service at this time.
