The University of Memphis is looking to make former player Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway its next head coach. According to CBS Sports, the university is considering firing current head coach Tubby Smith and replacing him with Hardaway, who coaches East High School in Memphis. If the university does decide to cut ties with Smith, he will still receive his full salary, which is just under $10 million. Hardaway starred for the Tigers from 1991 to 1993 before making the leap to the NBA.
