Kentucky’s annual unemployment rate dropped to 4.9 percent last year from 5.1 percent in 2016.
Nonfarm employment gained 11,300 jobs last year, according to the Kentucky Center for Education and Workforce Statistics. It was the lowest annual jobless rate for the state since 2000 when the rate was 4.2 percent.
The national annual unemployment rate dropped to 4.4 percent in 2017 from 4.9 percent in 2016.
The number of unemployed Kentuckians for 2017 was 100,302, down 2,819 from the 2016 number. There were 9,560 fewer individuals unemployed in 2017 than 10 years ago.
