Hoppers to play in Bluegrass World Series

The Hoptown Hoppers along with the Dubois County Bombers of the Ohio Valley League have been invited to play in the first Bluegrass World Series to be played in Louisville. The event will be hosted at Louisville Slugger Field, the home of the Louisville Bats, the Triple A farm team of the Cincinnati Reds.

According to a news release from the Louisville Bats, the event will take place July 30-August 4th. The Hoppers will play Sterling on July 31st at 2:30 pm Hopkinsville time and Dubois County on August 2nd at 6 pm Hopkinsville time.

One of the other teams in the event is the Louisville Stars, a team of former Major League players who include Chipper Jones, JD Drew, Dan Uggla, Johnny Damon, Josh Beckett, Roy Oswalt and Andruw Jones to name a few. Former Cincinnati Reds Johnny Bench, Doug Flynn, Tom Browning and Ron Oester serve as the Stars coaches.

The Hoppers are expected to issue a news release later today.
