Alcohol is suspected as a factor in a single-vehicle wreck Saturday night in Calloway County that sent the driver to a hospital after his pickup went into a creek.
The Calloway County Sheriff’s Department says 25-year old Kevin Pond of Buchanan, Tennessee was headed south on US 641 near Midway when he lost control of his pickup, traveled across the road and struck several items for sale at an antiques shop.
His truck then struck a billboard sign post and a tree before coming to rest in a creek south of the store.
Pond had to be extricated from the pickup and was taken by ambulance to Murray-Calloway County Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Alcohol and excessive speed are listed as factors and police say charges are pending.
