A bicyclist was flown to a hospital in Evansville, Indiana Friday following a two-vehicle wreck on Anton Road in Hopkins County.
According to a news release from the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to Anton Road near the county line for a collision involving a bicycle. Upon arrival, it was determined that a bicycle operated by 50-year old Tudor Popescu of Hanson had been travelling west bound when he was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by William Mitchell of Madisonville.
Mitchell reportedly told deputies he had been looking in the rearview mirror and when he looked back ahead it was too late to avoid a collision. Popescu was flown to Saint Vincent Hospital in Evansville. Mitchell was not injured.
