Unemployment was either stagnant or down from June to July in eight of nine Pennyrile counties.
Christian County’s jobless rate was 5.4 percent, unchanged from June and down from 6.5 percent one year ago. It equated to 1,363 people who were looking for work and unable to find it.
Todd County had the state’s eighth lowest jobless rate at 3.5 percent, down from 3.7 percent in June and from 4.3 percent in July of 2021.
The unemployment rate in Trigg County was 4.7 percent, down a tenth of a point from June and a full percentage point from a year ago.
Muhlenberg County had the region’s highest jobless rate at 6.7 percent, which was up a tenth from June.
The statewide unemployment rate was 4.2 percent and the national number was 3.8 percent.
