Sugar Bay drowning victim identified

A man has been found deceased in an apparent drowning incident in Trigg County Wednesday, following a search by first responders.

According to the Trigg County Coroner’s Office, it happened in the Sugar Bay area of the Land Between the Lakes in Cadiz, when a man went missing in the water. He was located following a search, and the victim has been identified as 74-year-old Durrett Michael Bennet.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Trigg County Coroner’s Office.

Numerous agencies responded to the scene, including Trigg County Rescue, Trigg County EMS, US Forest Service Law Enforcement, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, Kentucky Water Patrol, Kentucky State Police, Marshall County Rescue Squad and Lyon County Rescue Squad.
