The Christian County Colonels had three runners qualify for the KHSAA Class 3-A State Cross Country Meet this Saturday at the Lexington Horse Park.
Sixty-four runners competed in the Class 3-A, Region 1 Meet Saturday at Logan County High School.
Cayden Cline led the Colonels by taking 11th place in a time of 17:34. Cline earned a spot in this weekend’s state meet as did his teammate, Lucas Coats, who crossed the finish line in 22nd place with a personal best time of 18:17.
Bryce Hamlin also earned a bid to the state meet by crossing the finish line in 24th place with a personal best time of 18:32.
Other Colonels who competed included Cash Taggart (61st, 23:19), Julio Ramirez Cano (63rd, 28:24), and John Pitts (64th, 33:12).
The Colonels, who competed for the last time as a team in school history, finished eighth place in the region meet.
Meanwhile, in the Girls’ Class 3-A, Region 1 meet, seventh-grader Gracelyn Clark ran a personal best time of 23:57 to finish 30th. Clark missed qualifying for the state meet by just 30 seconds.
Aubree Cline was 45th in 25:21, Lilly Collins was 51st in 29:22, Britany Martinez was 54th in 30:22, and Mia Castillo took 58th in 35:09. The Lady Colonels finished eighth in their final team meet in school history.
