Several local high school soccer teams took part in the Bluegrass State Games over the weekend in Lexington.
The Hopkinsville Tigers went 2-1 in the event with wins over Boone County and Bryan Station. Wayne County defeated the Tigers on Saturday’s finale.
Gavin Harton and Jason Macario scored for the Tigers in a 2-0 win over Boone County. In a 5-2 win over Bryan Station, Alex Ramirez and Erick Hernandez each had a pair of goals and Rayan Elizalde had a goal.
Elizalde and Anthony Evangelista scored in a 3-2 loss to Wayne County.
Meanwhile, the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers went 1-2 over the weekend with a win over Louisville Holy Cross and losses to Bishop Brossart and Henry Clay.
The Lady Tigers fell 3-0 to Bishop Brossart and 4-0 to Henry Clay.
In the final game, Kaydon Coats and Kaylyn Lynch both had two goals and Jaycee Shanklin and Emma DeArmond scored in a 6-0 win over Holy Cross.
Mariely Moreno Avalos, Lauren Jones, Shanklin, and Coats each had an assist. Jaleigha McFarland had the shutout in goal.
University Heights Academy’s boys’ team tied its first game 1-1 against Somerset but were without four starters and lost to Scott County 2-0 and Cooper 4-0.
