Chase Cook, running for Preston Haddock, scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the fifth inning and sent host Heritage Christian Academy to a 6-5 high school baseball win over Community Christian on Thursday.
Jayden Nichols drove in four runs on two hits to lead the Warriors, who improved to 1-1 on the season.
Community Christian led 3-1 after one inning, but the Warriors scored three in the bottom of the second to take a 4-3 advantage.
Two more runs in the top of the fifth gave the visitors ar 5-4 lead, but the Warriors tied the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the fourth.
In the final and deciding frame, Haddock walked and was replaced on the basepaths by Cook, who stole second base. Lawson Clark followed with a single sending Cook to third base. Cadyn Travis was intentionally walked to load the bases before Cook scored on a passed ball to win the game.
Tycen Wells picked up the pitching win in relief of Aaron Hensley, who struck out five in four innings.
Nichols led the Warriors at the plate with a single and double and Caden Gresham had a double.
HCA returns to action today at Crittenden County.
