Southside Church of Christ in Hopkinsville will soon become a battle zone of fun, as the Joy Closet Mother and Son Nerf Wars are set to take over the space on March 2.
Tickets are still up for grabs for both time slots and Executive Director Heather Gray urges people to get those $25 tickets while they’re still available, making sure they get the goodies that come with those.
Both the Christian County Sheriff’s Department and the Hopkinsville Police Department participate in the event, and CCSO Public Information Officer Chris Miller calls it a great time for everyone involved, and the competition can get fierce, not just between the agencies, but with the moms and their kids.
He says it’s a “capture the flag” type of scenario, and they make sure everyone gets plenty of play time.
The groups are separated by age to keep things fair. Tickets can be purchased online at joycloset.org and all money raised goes back into benefiting the Joy Closet and their mission.
The local nonprofit focuses on helping foster care children, families and children in crisis by providing them with need based donated items such as clothing, toys and sanitary products, but they’re also focused on providing support to children in other ways, such as helping those aging out of the foster care system get on their feet.
