Shots fired incident results in Hopkinsville man’s arrest

While responding to a residence after reports of a disturbance, officers from the Hopkinsville Police Department reportedly witnessed gunshots and arrested Juronn Monroe of Hopkinsville early Saturday morning.

Officers were responding to a residence on Walnut Street, in relation to a reported disturbance, as officers were exiting the residence with the victim to file an emergency protective order, they reportedly heard gunshots ring out.

The victim said they saw Monroe exit their residence and start firing a handgun before he ran back inside of the home. After the handgun was fired, officers on the scene called backup and requested for Monroe to exit the residence.

After exiting the residence, Monroe was taken into custody and officers searched the residence where they found spent shell casings. According to officers, Monroe refused to tell them where the gun he fired was located.

As he was being lodged at the Christian County Jail, jailers allegedly found, unfired pistol rounds that matched the spent shell casings found at the scene. It was also found that Monroe was reportedly under the influence of alcohol.

Monroe was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
