As the end of the year is fast approaching, citizens are being reminded of some upcoming election deadlines.
Speaking with WHOP News, Chrisitan County Clerk Melinda Humphries says if you’re looking to run for partisan office—which includes Hopkinsville City Council, Circuit Court Clerk, State Representative or Senator—you only have until January 5 to file your paperwork to do so.
For non-partisan offices, such as school board or other city commissions, you have a little bit longer until June to file for office.
If you’re not running for office but will be voting in one of those races in 2024, you have until December 31 to change your party registration, which will determine what primaries you vote in.
You can check your party registration or change it by going online to govote.ky.gov or you can give the Christian County Clerk’s Office a call at (270) 887-4107 for more information.
