The Christian County Sheriff’s Department has released details on the vehicle versus horse and buggy on Pilot Rock Road.
According to the collision report, nine-year-old Karen Weaver was riding in a buggy being drawn by a horse near Shaw Ovil Road around 8 a.m. Thursday morning when the horse apparently became startled by something. The horse reportedly entered the eastbound lane of travel, where it was struck by the side of a vehicle driven by 28-year-old Martha Martin of Hopkinsville.
The horse got loose from the buggy was located a short distance away, uninjured.
Weaver was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.
