>>Cardinals Crush D’backs To Avoid Sweep

(St. Louis, MO)  —  The Cardinals avoided a three-game sweep with a 14-5 rout of the Diamondbacks in at Busch Stadium.  Tommy Edman smacked a three-run homer and drove in five, while Nolan Gorman belted a grand slam for the Redbirds, who finished 3-and-4 on their homestand and improved to 8-and-11 overall.  Jake Woodford picked up his first win after giving up four runs in five frames.  St. Louis sends Steven Matz to the mound against the Mariners in Seattle tomorrow.

>>Reds Shutout By Rays, Lose Series

(Cincinnati, OH)  —  The Reds dropped their series finale to the Rays following an 8-0 shutout defeat in Cincinnati.  Levi Stoudt got the loss after surrendering seven runs on nine hits over four innings.  Jose Barrero went one-for-three with a walk for Cincy, which fell to 7-and-11.  The Reds are last in the NL Central.  Cincinnati heads to Pittsburgh tonight for the first of a four-game series against the Pirates.  Luke Weaver takes the mound for Cincy.

(Undated)  —  The Redbirds and Bats have won the first two games of their series while the Sounds lost both of their opening games.  Memphis exploded on offense early and plated 11 runs over the first three innings in a 12-7 victory over Indianapolis.  The Redbirds are now 12-and-5.  Louisville secured a 7-6, walk off win over Charlotte and improved to 5-and-11.  Nashville suffered a 10-9, walk off defeat in extras against Jacksonville and fell to 8-and-9.  All three teams are back in action tonight.
