(Undated)  — Kentucky earned a signature win over fifth-ranked Tennessee in college basketball action.  The Wildcats took down the Vols 63-56 in Knoxville.  Kentucky will host Georgia tomorrow.  Tennessee dropped to 14-and-3 and will head to Mississippi State tomorrow night.  Vanderbilt upset 16th-ranked Arkansas 97-84.  The Commodores will host fourth-ranked Alabama tomorrow.  Louisville has lost seven games in a row after an 80-59 defeat to North Carolina over the weekend.  The Cardinals will host Pitt on Wednesday.  Memphis won a close game against Temple 61-59.  The Tigers will host Wichita State on Thursday.

Kentucky Rallies Past Florida for First SEC Win of Season

Robyn Benton scored 17 of her 29 points in the fourth quarter as the Kentucky women’s basketball team earned its first Southeastern Conference win of the season, topping Florida 81-75 on Sunday at Exactech Arena. Benton tied her career high with the 29 points, which came on nine of 19 shooting, including one of four from behind the arc, and a perfect 10-of-10 at the free throw line. Kentucky (9-9, 1-5 SEC) got 19 points from Jada Walker, who scored 10 in the fourth quarter as well. Maddie Scherr had 18 points, six rebounds, four steals, three blocked shots and three assists for the Cats.

Lady Toppers Take On Florida Atlantic on Monday

WKU women’s basketball will be looking to build on a three-game winning streak on Monday at Florida Atlantic. The game is set for a 6 p.m. (CT) in Boca Raton.

Tops Slated for Monday Night Red Out Against (RV) Florida Atlantic

WKU Hilltopper Basketball is taking on (RV) Florida Atlantic at home on Monday night at 6 p.m. CT. The game will be nationally televised on ESPNU. WKU is currently on a three-game win streak, most recently beating FIU inside E.A. Diddle Arena on Saturday night 70-59. The Owls have won 15 games in a row, including an undefeated record in conference, and beat North Texas in Boca Raton 66-62. The Hilltoppers lead the all-time series with Florida Atlantic 17-7, including a 9-3 mark in Bowling Green. In the Stansbury era, WKU is 5-3 against the Owls.

Jones, Van Lith Push Cardinals Past Florida State, 82-75

The RV/RV University of Louisville women’s basketball team had another game that came down to the final minutes but the Cards came out on top, 82-75, against RV/RV Florida State (16-4, 5-2) at the Donald L. Tucker Center Sunday afternoon. The Cards (14-6, 5-2) used a 31-point fourth quarter to erase a six-point deficit as they shot 13-of-18 (72.2%) from the field in the final quarter. Morgan Jones returned to Tallahassee after playing her first four seasons with the Seminoles. She scored a game-high 25 points on 9-of-10 shooting and led the team with 10 rebounds. It was her fourth career double-double and the first with the Cardinals. Hailey Van Lith poured in 20 points, the fourth game of her last five with 20 or more points. Van Lith led the team with a career-high eight assists and career-high five steals to go with eight rebounds. Van Lith is the only player in the country to score at least 20 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and five steals in a game. Olivia Cochran had 13 points and eight rebounds and Chrislyn Carr added 11 points. Mykasa Robinson played in her 144th game in her career and she tied Jazmine Jones’ school record for most games played in a Louisville career. The Cards held ACC leading scorer, Ta’Niya Latson, to 11 points on 3-of-16 shooting. The field goals and shooting percentage were both season-lows and she came into the game averaging 25.0 points per game.

Turley, Young Combine For 44 In Win Over Bradley

Macey Turley and Katelyn Young combined for 44 points , while the Murray State women’s basketball team as whole shot a season-high 55.0-percent from the field in an 83-48 win over Bradley Sunday at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky.

Cam Payne Shines Bright As Always – Jersey No. 1 Retired

When Cameron Payne played for the Murray State men’s basketball team from 2013-15, he was known for his high energy approach to the game. For 69 games, the lefty point guard from Memphis drew Racer Nation into his orbit. His smile was infectious and his play got better and better from start to finish. Now in his eighth season in the NBA and fourth with the Phoenix Suns, Payne was invited back to Murray (Jan. 14) for the ultimate honor. Having his jersey No. 1 lifted to the rafters at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky, where it hangs among the greats, including Isaiah Canaan (2009-13) and Ja Morant (2017-19). Inducted into the Murray State Hall of Fame in 2020, Payne became the third Racer to play in an NBA Finals in 2020 with the Suns.
