Local legislators are reacting to Governor Andy Beshear’s budget address from Thursday night and there may be some common ground between the legislative and executive branches.
Ninth District State Representative Myron Dossett serves on the House Appropriations and Revenue Committee and says the governor’s budget has similarities to the two-year spending plan proposed last week by Chairman Jason Petrie.
Representative Walker Thomas of Hopkinsville was pleased by funds the governor would put toward improvements at state parks.
Meanwhile, Senator Whitney Westerfield of Christian County says he’d like to see the governor work with the General Assembly more and he’s focused on the House budget.
Lawmakers have a long weekend with the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday and will return to Frankfort Tuesday.
