A trial date was scheduled Wednesday morning in Christian Circuit Court for 23-year old Deqavion James of Oak Grove, who is charged with murder and robbery for his alleged role in the 2016 shooting death of De’Andre Palmer in Oak Grove.
James had entered a guilty plea to lesser charges, but the judge allowed him last month to withdraw his plea after the commonwealth acknowledged there could have been some justified confusion over when he would become eligible for parole.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling and defense attorney Ted Shouse agreed a trial date is needed and Judge John Atkins set it for August 22.
His co-defendant, Leonardo Miller of Oak Grove, pled guilty last month to murder, robbery, theft and tampering with evidence as part of a deal that comes with a recommended 40 year sentence.
