EDC hosts annual industry appreciation luncheon

The South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council hosted their regional industry appreciation luncheon Wednesday at the Bruce Convention Center, with several local industries receiving special recognition.

The EDC recognized industries for their commitment to sustainability as part of the Go Green Sustainability Awards process.  A news release says through a partnership with the Tennessee Valley Authority, this region has achieved gold level sustainability status for Christian County and silver level status for Trigg County.

The 2021 award winners for leadership in Go Green Sustainability efforts were Riken Elastomers, Commonwealth Agri-Energy, Douglas Autotech, and Huhtamaki.

The 2020 award winners were Pregis, Novelis, Brazeway, Commonwealth Agri-Energy, Riken Elastomers, and Walmart Distribution Center.

EDC Executive Director Carter Hendricks says, “We always enjoy celebrating our existing industries and their tremendous impact in our region.  Equally important, we recognize our regional industry partners for their corporate leadership and ongoing support of efforts like United Way. In 2020, our regional industries raised nearly $200,000 for United Way agencies and those most in need.”
