There will be a planned power outage on Saturday for portions of Hopkinsville to allow for system upgrades through Hopkinsville Electric System.
According to a news release, starting at 11:59 p.m. on Saturday HES will be performing system upgrades that will require a power outage in the areas of South Campbell Street, South Main Street, South Virginia Street, and South Walnut Street areas. It is estimated that the outage will last approximately 2 and a half hours, assuming no issues are encountered during the upgrade. Power should be restored by 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
The outages are necessary to perform system upgrades to the HES distribution system in the affected area. Residents may want to heat their houses more than normal before the outage occurs and HES recommends that customers not open refrigerators or freezers to retain the cold for the foods inside.
