The first scheduled trial in Christian Circuit Court since the pandemic began did not happen Monday morning when the alleged victim in the case failed to appear.
Court officials say trial was continued until September 20 for Travis Mayes, who allegedly shot Darrell Bateman at East Second and Vine in February of 2020.
Bateman had been subpoenaed to appear Monday, but did not show up.
Judge John Atkins released Mayes from jail on his own recognizance with conditions, pending trial.
