A Hopkinsville man is facing marijuana trafficking charges following a traffic stop on South Virginia Street Saturday night.
According to a news release from the Christian County Sheriff Department, deputies stopped a vehicle operated by 20-year old Brandon Austin of Hopkinsville that was allegedly travelling with no headlights illuminated. Deputy Johnny Colon reportedly smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle and discovered that Austin was operating on a suspended license.
Austin was taken into custody and a search of the vehicle allegedly revealed marijuana, cash, a loaded hand gun and an undisclosed amount of cash.
He is charged with trafficking in marijuana, failure to illuminate headlights, operating on a suspended driver’s license and no proof of insurance and no proof of registration.
