CCPS students settling back into in-person, summer education survey up

The majority of Christian County Public School students have been back in-person in the school building for a week now, and Superintendent Chris Bentzel says things are on their way to being back on track.

The first few days were on an ‘advisory’ hybrid model, which kept middle and high school students in one classroom throughout the day instead of changing classes—but Superintendent Bentzel says that has since been set back to normal as well.

He says much of the first week was focused on catching up missed assignments and helping students correct any technical difficulties, but now it’s full steam ahead on new education and getting students ready for the future.

The school system put out a survey on its Facebook page recently to see how parents and guardians would feel about a ‘summer education’ program if they felt their student would need the extra help, due to the impact in learning caused by pandemic closures.

Bentzel says they are currently looking for approximately 300 high school students who have not returned back to school, either traditional or in the Virtual Learning Academy, for one reason or another—he says they’ll be aggressively pushing for those students to return to school.
