Todd County makes plan for return to school

When Todd County Public Schools reopen to in-person instruction on January 11, middle and high schools will be operating on a hybrid model if the county is still red on the COVID incidence rate map.

Both elementary schools would also use non-traditional instruction on Friday when the county is red, according to Superintendent Marc Thomas, who says they’d be in person the other four days. Todd County Middle School and Todd County Central High School students who are enrolled in person instruction will begin their “in person” instruction on a hybrid red/gray schedule, based upon where the student lives. Todd Middle and High students who live in the North Todd attendance area would be designated as the “Gray” group and students who live in the South Todd attendance area would be designated as the “Red” group.

The “gray” students will work on their class work while “in person” on Mondays and Tuesdays. The “red” students will complete their work virtually on Mondays and Tuesdays. On Wednesdays and Thursdays the “gray” will complete their work virtually and the “red” students will complete their class work while being “in person”. Todd County Middle School and Todd County Central High School will use virtual learning on Fridays to work with students needing assistance along with assignment completion.

All students who are enrolled for in-person learning will be back in their building if the county turns orange, though Thomas says their plan also allows the district to provide a “hybrid” learning schedule option for students when Todd County is in the “orange”.
