The Kiwanis Club of Hopkinsville will still move forward with the Warm the Children initiative, to help provide warm clothes to children in need in the community.
The club has been teaming up with local retailers and the Salvation Army for years to help provide for children and their families. Coordinator Nikki Chambers appeared on WHOP Monday and says it began locally in 1995 and has been providing clothing for children from six months old to 16 years old ever since.
She says donations are being sought and the best way to donate is to mail in to Warm the Children.
With the closing of JC Penney, they had to find a new partner—and Walmart on Clinic Drive stepped in.
The families who receive the aid are selected by the Salvation Army—children are allotted around $80 to spend, which only goes towards clothing needs in totality.
