A very different Pennyrile Walk to End Alzheimer’s in 2020 had the same goal—to one day find a cure for Alzheimer’s and to support those battling the disease.
Tuwanda Coleman—the host of Channel 5’s Talk of the Town—hosted the virtual walk and noted that the 40 teams and 155 participants walked in their own neighborhood this year because of the pandemic.
Alan Toliver was the top fundraising individual at $1,155 and the Memory Keepers are again the top fundraising team at $2,251. A total of $20,574 had been raised as of Saturday morning.
The promise garden can still be viewed at the Christian County Justice Center and the flowers represent those fighting the disease, those caring for a patient and those who have lost a loved one to Alzheimer’s. Coleman says the hope is to one day plant a white flower for someone who has survived Alzheimer’s.
Donations for this year’s walk will be collected through the end of the year and can be made online here.
