Gov. Beshear says steadier numbers show Ky. remains in plateau

After a few days of ups and downs in the numbers of new COVID-19 cases in Kentucky, Governor Andy Beshear says it appears the figures have steadied again.

Kentucky gained 176 additional cases from Thursday to Friday, which the governor says is more in line with numbers we’ve become accustomed to and it shows the commonwealth is still in the plateau.

The overall total is 6,288 and at least 2,266 Kentuckians have recovered. There are four additional deaths, bringing that total to 298.

Phase 1 of transitioning from healthy at home to healthy at work is beginning Monday and the governor says minimum guidelines for most types of industries and houses of worship is posted at kycovid19.ky.gov.

Governor Beshear announced the state has paid a total of 690,000 unemployment claims totaling $1.2 billion and state employees continues to work on a significant backlog.

Montgomery County gained six new cases from Thursday to Friday to 161, Robertson County is up 12 to 207 and Stewart County remained at seven. Tennessee has 14,441 total cases and 241 deaths.
