Todd County now has nine confirmed cases of COVID-19.
The ninth patient is an adult who is hospitalized with other underlying health conditions, according to the Todd County Health Department, which is in the process of determining the contacts for the patient.
Anyone who has been in direct contact with the patient will be notified.
In a Facebook Live session Saturday, Public Health Director Jen Harris says she has continued conference calls and meetings with Todd County’s large Amish and Mennonite population and they have mostly complied with the health department’s guidance.
She says most patients who have tested positive have fever and a dry cough, one patient isn’t showing any symptoms—but the prevailing symptom they’ve seen is difficulty breathing.
Most important, Harris stresses the need for continued social distancing and good hand washing practices as the most important ways for everyone to keep themselves and their families healthy.
