Remember to replace the batteries in your smoke detector when you set your clock back one hour Saturday night.
Hopkinsville Fire Department Captain Michael Pendleton says also look at the manufactured date on your smoke detector to be sure it’s no more than 10 years old.
If your smoke detector is more than a decade old and you live in the city, call the Hopkinsville Fire Department and they’ll replace it for you at no cost.
Pendelton says they are also urging people to sleep with their bedroom door closed as a way to keep smoke and fire out for as long as possible if there is a fire in the home.
