Summer temperatures didn’t stop hundreds of families from taking part in NatureFest at Jeffers’ Bend Environmental Center Saturday, where they were able to do a slew of nature activities.
Participants were able to go canoeing, paint pumpkins, make bird feeders, pet a variety of different animals and learn about why nature is important, all the way down to honeybees. Jeffers’ Bend Steering Committee Chair Mark Withers says attendance might have been a little down this year, but they still had plenty of kids eager to play and learn.
He says NatureFest is all about introducing kids to things they might not have known about before, all while having a good time.
There were 39 different booths and events, including archery, disc golf, a chance to meet the Hopkinsville Fire and Police Departments, a tire obstacle course, places to learn about insects and local wildlife and much more. For more information about Jeffers’ Bend and what it offers, like Jeffers’ Bend Environmental Center on Facebook.
