A high-speed pursuit that began on the Pennyrile Parkway Wednesday night ended on I-24 with an arrest.
Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy Rick Burgess attempted to make a traffic stop on 31-year old Montez Johnson of Clarksville for speeding. Johnson initially acted as though he was pulling over, but then veered back onto the Parkway and reached speeds of up to 96 mph before taking I-24 West.
He attempted a u-turn near 80 mm, but got stuck by the cable barrier. Johnson then attempted to head east in the westbound lanes, but Deputy Burgess rammed his pickup to bring it to a stop.
Johnson was arrested and charged with fleeing or evading police, wanton endangerment, reckless driving, criminal mischief and several other traffic-related counts. He was also sought on a warrant out of Tennessee.
