Phil Mickelson lit up the LaQuinta Course at PGA West with a 12 under par 60 and has a three shot lead heading into the second round of the Desert Classic. Lexington native Josh Teater is tied for 31st at four under and Louisville native Cooper Musselman is at two under, good for a tie for 70th.
At the PGA Tour Champions Mitsubishi Electric Championship in Hawaii, Franklin’s Kenny Perry is tied for fifth at three under 69 and trails co leaders Joe Durant and David Toms by four shots.
