A Herndon man was arrested on methamphetamine related charges Thursday night following a traffic stop on High Street.
According to the Hopkinsville Police Report written by Officer Jamie Gapp, he observed a vehicle driven by 45-year old Jeffrey Averitt of Herndon allegedly fail to stop at a stop sign on High Street. During the traffic stop, a K9 unit arrived on scene and the K9 reportedly alerted on the vehicle.
A search of Averitt’s person allegedly revealed a clear plastic bag with a crystal substance inside that Averitt identified as meth. While being processed into the Christian County Jail, jail staff reportedly found a second plastic bag that contained meth and marijuana on Averitt’s person.
Averitt was charged with promoting contraband, possession of meth and drug paraphernalia and disregarding a stop sign. The Christian County Jail lists that he also charged with tampering with physical evidence.
