BREAKING: Kirby Wallace is in custody!!! More details soon! pic.twitter.com/UuQXLUCVvt
— Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (@TBInvestigation) October 5, 2018
A new perimeter has been established by police in the manhunt for Kirby Wallace after a credible sighting overnight.
The Stewart County Sheriff’s Department issued a statement just before 5 a.m. saying school bus routes No. 6 and 35 would be canceled this morning due to a new perimeter in the areas of Hayes Ridge and Bartee Road. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department says the sighting was in the area of Hayes Ridge Road and Wild Cat Creek Road in Stewart County.
All roadways in Montgomery County have reopened as the search has shifted west and the Cumberland City Ferry is not operating today due to the manhunt.
Residents in that area near the Stewart-Montgomery County line are reminded to keep their doors and windows locked and to dial 911 if they see any suspicious activity.
During a news conference yesterday, Montgomery County Sheriff John Fuson said the rugged terrain in the search perimeters makes the manhunt more dangerous and more difficult.
Stewart County Sheriff Frankie Gray says it’s difficult to speculate on what Wallace is doing during the day, they are just acting on the information they have.
Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett announced the county has added $10,000 to the reward money for information leading to Wallace’s arrest, and five anonymous citizens donated an additional $500 each, with that total now at $20,000.
Police are also asking that anyone with trail cameras in the perimeter areas to check for any images of Wallace and to turn those over to investigators.
Wallace is considered armed and dangerous and anyone with information on his whereabouts should dial 911 or 1-800-TBI-Find.
