Clarksville Police are investigating a fatal vehicle-versus-pedestrian accident from Monday morning.
A news release says it happened just before 4:30 a.m. on the US 41A Bypass at Vista Lane, where 77-year old Franklin Massie stepped into the path of an automobile. The driver attempted to avoid a collision, but was unable to do so.
Massie was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
Police say it does not appear that alcohol or excessive speed were factors in the incident.
