Man facing numerous charges after vehicle pursuit

A Clarksville man was arrested for multiple charges following a vehicle pursuit in Christian County Thursday afternoon.

According to a report from the Christian County Sheriff’s Department, deputies observed a vehicle operated by 19-year old Jeremiah Gain of Clarksville travelling the wrong way on South Main Street. He allegedly turned onto South Virginia Street, still driving the wrong direction on a one way street.  When the deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Gain allegedly fled towards East Ninth Street.

He allegedly accelerated and drove recklessly, passing two vehicles in a no passing zone and ignoring stop lights before having to stop reportedly due to a flat tire. Upon making contact, deputies reportedly smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Gain reportedly denied having marijuana in the vehicle but a K9 unit alerted on the car and a baggie of marijuana was found in the floorboard along with loose marijuana. They also allegedly discovered other drug paraphernalia.

The passengers in the vehicle reportedly stated that Gain had seen the cruiser and fled, saying he did not have a license.

Gain was arrested and charged with fleeing or evading police, tampering with physical evidence, reckless driving, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, operating on a revoked license and several traffic violations.
