A Heat Advisory is in effect for all of western Kentucky from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and there are some tips you can follow to be sure you and your family remain safe.
The National Weather Service in Paducah says temperatures will top out in the mid-90’s and that will combine with humidity to make the heat index approach 105 to 110.
Amanda Bassinghthwaite with the Christian County Health Department says strategically plan outdoor work for when it’s cooler and be sure to drink plenty of fluids.
Be sure to always check your back seat when you park your car to be sure you aren’t leaving a child or pet behind.
Leaving a child or animal inside a hot car can become deadly in a matter of minutes and it can result in criminal charges.
Bassingthwaite says wearing sunscreen will prevent sunburn and future problems down the road.
Be sure any outdoor pets have an ample supply of fresh water and a place in the shade to take refuge from the heat.
