The 9th annual Hopkinsville International Festival got underway Friday evening with music, dancing and exhibits celebrating the diversity found in the community.
City Administrative Coordinator Nikki Durham says the festivities went on until 8 p.m. Friday and continued Saturday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Durham says the event is free to attend with activities such as a kid zone and performances with over 20 countries represented.
People were already filling the James Bruce Convention Center, where the festival is held, when the gates open Friday. Durham urged everyone to come experience the festival that celebrates Hopkinsville and Christian County’s diversity and culture.
There are over a dozen vendors selling handmade items and other goods, along with food vendors and a tent for story-time. The Hopkinsville International Festival has been rapidly expanding since the first event in 2009.
