Local state Rep’s happy with road plan

While most of the focus has been on pension reform during this 2018 session of the General Assembly, the Kentucky House approved a two-year road plan last week that includes projects important to the southern Pennyrile.

One condition of the Pennyrile Parkway being designated as Interstate 169 was for the state to reconstruct the ‘cloverleaf’ interchange with the MLK Bypass north of town and Representative Myron Dossett says $250,000 for the design phase is included in the road plan.

There’s about $3.2 million for reconstruction of North Drive from Sanderson Drive to West Seventh Street and Representative Walker Thomas says that should help alleviate congestion associated with school traffic.

Dossett is pleased there’s $730,000 included for resurfacing of KY 115 from US 41 in Pembroke to Carneal Lane in Oak Grove.

In Todd County, the Transportation Cabinet will widen about three miles of US 79 beginning at the state line. It will also address deficiencies in bridges on Rattlesnake Road and Roger Q Mill Road.

The largest project in Trigg County is addressing deficiencies in the KY 139 bridge over Burge Creek.
