Opening round games began Wednesday at the Girls Sweet 16 at Northern Kentucky University. Owensboro Catholic defeated Johnson Central 56-46, Elizabethtown routed Bowling Green 62-41, Mercer County blitzed Murray 55-44 and George Rogers Clark over Harlan County 70-56.
Owensboro Catholic will face Mercer County in the first quarterfinal game Friday at 11 am Hopkinsville time followed by Elizabethtown and George Rogers Clark.
First round games continue today as Mercy meets Knott County Central at 11 am Hopkinsville time followed by Scott County and Dupont Manual. 2nd region winner Webster County faces Boyd County at 5:30 this evening, with airtime at 5:15 on News Radio 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP and whopam.com. The final game of the day has Ryle going against Simon Kenton. Today’s winners will advance to the quarterfinals tomorrow.
