In the OVC: The winning streak is eight in a row for Murray State Racers after they defeated Jacksonville State 68-60. Johnathan Stark finished the game with 32 points and Terrell Miller, Jr., was the Racers only other double-digit scorer with 12 points.
Murray State now 21-5, kept a share of first place in the Ohio Valley Conference with Belmont, each at 13-2. MSU wraps up the home portion of the regular season Saturday when they host Tennessee Tech.
Austin Peay put five players in double figures but never quite found the final rally in an 86-80 defeat at the hands of Tennessee Tech. Averyl Ugba led Austin Peay with 19 points. The Governors are now 15-12, 10-5 in the OVC as they host Jacksonville State tomorrow night.
Western Kentucky got 30 points from Taveion Hollingsworth and 37 made free throws to pull out a 102-94 overtime road victory at North Texas. The Hilltoppers are now 19-7 overall, 11-2 Conference USA as they play at Rice tomorrow night with coverage at 6:30 on News Radio 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP.
Women’s scores: In the OVC: Jacksonville State edged Murray State 59-55, Austin Peay slid by Tennessee Tech 53-52.
SEC action saw Kentucky rout Arkansas 78-57, Alabama upset 11th ranked Tennessee 72-63 and 2nd ranked Mississippi State topped Vanderbilt 95-50.
Western Kentucky defeated Middle Tennessee 76-60 and 4th ranked Louisville routed Boston College 87-52.
