The Christian County School Board approved two different payments associated with a reroofing project at Hopkinsville High School that is happening slowly but surely.
Two amounts, approximately $48,200 and $131,600, were paid towards the partial reroofing project and Chief Operations Officer Brad Hawkins says that project has been ongoing and a section over the 500 hall was recently completed.
He says by replacing the roof in sections, it allows them to use available funding without having to sell bonds and he’s hopeful that soon the roof will be in good shape.
In other action, the board approved some changes in policy concerning alternative education, including the requirements to transition back into a traditional school setting. That includes being contingent on a student’s attendance, grades, reading and math readiness and have participate in a counseling program. It also clarifies that students in an alternative program due to behavior are not eligible to participate an extracurricular activies.
The Christian County High School Air Force JROTC was recognized, along with Outstanding Instructor of the Year Major Robert Marlow, for once again being named a Distinguished Unit with Merit.
