Man with toddler in car arrested for DUI, meth trafficking

A traffic stop on US 79 in Todd County Thursday night led to the arrest of a man with a toddler in the car on six separate charges, including for trafficking in methamphetamine.

Todd County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Saunders stopped 35-year old Gabriel Shawn Scott of Olmstead for speeding and swerving out of his lane and an arrest citation says he was shaking and appeared to be under the influence of a substance.

He admitted to having marijuana in his pocket and a search of his person allegedly revealed a small baggie of meth in a cigarette box.

There were three other baggies that Scott admitted he was using to traffic meth, according to the report.

Further search of his car revealed a digital scale in the console.

Police say a two-year old was a passenger in his vehicle and a babysitter was called to pick the child up.

Scott was arrested and charged with trafficking in meth, DUI, possession of marijuana, reckless driving, speeding and possession of drug paraphernalia.
