Steve Tucker, the former Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy charged with felony theft, was arraigned in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday and had his bond reduced.
Tucker appeared in court along with defense attorney H.B. Quinn, who entered a not guilty plea on his behalf and requested Tucker’s $10,000 bond be reduced to 10-percent of that amount. Circuit Judge Andrew Self approved the reduction, saying Tucker is not a flight risk and $9,000 would be returned to the person who posted the original bond.
A pretrial hearing was set for March 28. Tucker is accused of stealing $55,000 over seven years from the Christian County Juvenile Services Foundation. Kentucky State Police says Tucker served as president of the foundation, but the position was not contractually connected to his role as a deputy at the sheriff’s department.
The foundation is responsible for raising funds that pay for drug testing and graduation ceremonies associated with the Christian County Juvenile Drug Court.
